#3 - Warrior Novium Pro
First of all, I must admit that I’ve never been a fan of mid-kick profile hockey sticks. I find their release slower than it should be for my style of play and they always seem heavier than my personal favorite low-kick profile sticks.
That being said, Warrior added the new Novium Pro hockey stick to their product line in 2022 and I can confidently say it knocks spots off the competition. They say that this state-of-the-art stick is designed to provide maximum power and precision on the ice. They are not lying. I’ve rarely felt that comfortable playing with a mid-kick stick profile so fast.
The stick features a lightweight, yet durable design that allows for quick and effortless stickhandling. The blade has been specially crafted with a textured surface for enhanced grip, unreal puck feels and improved shot accuracy. The balance point is great too.
In addition, the stick boasts a mid kick point that provides a flexible feel for shooting and a rigid feel for passing, giving you the ultimate control on the ice, and always making the stick extremely predictable.
Warrior believes that the Novium Pro will be a game-changer for players at all levels. After playing with it, I truly believe it too. The stick is super easy to adapt to and the performance coming from it is as high as you can expect it to be. My only real downside is the fact that the shaft geometry is not round.
I’ve ranked the Warrior Novium Pro as my 3rd favorite hockey stick in 2022 but it really was a close race for the 2nd spot.
#2 - Warrior Covert QR5 Pro
When choosing a stick, I always look for one that offers maximum puck feel and control. As soon as I started using the Covert QR5 PRO, I knew I would really like it. The puck feel is absolutely amazing. There is no need to look down to know if the puck is on your blade. The blade is on the softer side, making it easy to control the puck, receive and distribute all types of passes, and enhance the precision of my shots.
The stick feels very lightweight, especially in the lower shaft portion as it gets very thin in that area to maximize the recoil from its low-kick profile. The grip in the middle of the shaft offers great adherence, but not too much. It's just the perfect blend. The grip at the top of the shaft is a bit disappointing, though, as it peels off easily. This means that you will eventually have to put tape on it if you normally just do a small knob at the top (which is the case for me).
Aside from that small downside (the top grip), the construction of the stick is clean, and the stick is sturdy. It can handle a lot of puck battles and faceoffs. The shaft geometry feels comfortable and is stable in my hands.
In my opinion, the Warrior Covert QR5 Pro hockey stick offers the best overall feeling of all the new sticks that came out in 2022. However, the only reason it is not my #1 choice is the lack of velocity on shots compared to the big winner of my ranking.
#1 - CCM Ribcor trigger 7 pro
I recently had the chance to play and test the CCM Trigger 7 Pro hockey stick, and I have been very impressed with its performance on the ice.
The stick has a low-kick point that offers a lot of recoil, resulting in lightning-quick and super powerful shots. The blade is stiff and responsive, making it easy to handle the puck with precision and enhance the puck feel. The grip on the shaft is textured and comfortable, providing a secure hold. The stick itself feels incredibly lightweight and is so easy to maneuver. Stickhandling is a breeze with this twig.
One of the things that caught my attention about the CCM Trigger 7 Pro is its durability compared to its predecessor. Despite taking some heavy abuse on the ice, the stick has held up remarkably well and shows no signs of wear and tear. The construction of the stick is solid, and it has a sleek, professional look. I love how the purple pops out too. It's different from what we're used to, and it looks good and refreshing.
Overall, the thing I liked the most about the Trigger 7 PRO is the reliability of the puck release and the velocity that goes with it. In my opinion, there is no other stick out there that releases the puck as quickly and as hard as this one. This stick has exceeded my expectations in terms of performance, handling, and durability, and I would highly recommend it to any serious hockey player.
The Trigger 7 PRO is a true sniper stick and really offers a WOW factor. These are all the reasons why it is my #1 choice for 2022.
